The Gillard Malaysia Refugee deal

Finally Julia 'gets' it.... Aussies don't like the idea of 'boat people' undermining their sense of border security or..sense of control over our national destiny.

There are some fairly solid reasons for this.  Let's look at just one rather 'broad stokes' outcome of the influx of Asian 'boat people' after the fall of Saigon in 1974.  There's no question as to the legitimacy of most of these cases fleeing a vengeful psychotic communist master, euphoric on having beaten the commy version of the 'Great Satan'.. the USA.  No matter what level of legitimacy a particular group has, there is something the Left always reminds us of "due process"..but let's not get sidetracked down that blind ally for now.

In the end, many tens of thousands of 'Asian boat people' fled Vietnam, and arrived on our shores. PM Bob Hawke was tearfully receptive of converting large numbers of Chinese  Students  into permanent residents after the Tien an Min Square event.  Labor has tended to be more sympathetic to Asian immigration and it seems many of them have had what a cynic might see as the 'desired political effect' in the seat  of Bennelong, where John Howard was ousted in the 2007 federal election.  The present situation faced by Gillard is that thngs have changed somewhat.


The earlier influxes tended to support Labor it seems....but when Labor started to lose it's 'blue collar' vote as jobs became scarce during the GFC... and that demographic started to run for the "Green" hills... they've been forced to look for another approach




This blog believes her plan to trade 800 detained boat people for 4000 approved refugees, is a master stroke with very positive implications for Australia. But it depends a bit on how Malaysia handles it.
1/ According to this report, most of those detained in Malaysia who will come here are Christians.
2/ Most of those 'here' who will go to Malaysia are Muslims.

This is a wonderful outcome.  Christians come to Australia with a world view that is compatible with the words our parliament opens with "Our Father, who art in heaven".... literalist/strict Muslims come here with a 'different' view,  "Fight those who do not believe in Allah and the last day.....until they are subjected" (Quran 9:29)  they also don't have much fondness for Christians if they believe their own holy book in the very next verse.. "Allah's CURSE be on them, they are deluded" (9:30 re Jews and Christians)

The contrast could not be more stark.  If Christians come here, I have 100% confidence that they will never EVER seek to blow up the MCG during the Grand final, or topple the Westgate Bridge or poison our water supply, or massacre soldiers at Holsworthy or any other Army base...all simply because Aussie soldiers are on Government authorized missions of pre-emptive defense in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.

The people most upset by this brilliant move by Gillard are the Greens...awwwww *pout*... they have been posturing themselves as "The Compassionate ones".. (barf..choke)... which is nothing more than a "We'll see you in a few years at the ballot box in marginal seats" ploy.

Now.. the Greens long term election power grab strategy is in utter tatters and not before time either.
